The Crimean issue is at the agenda

The issues about the state and prospects of the further development of Crimea’s transport system will open the second day of the VII International Forum “Transport and Transit Potential”, which takes place in October 9-10, 2014 in Saint-Petersburg in light of the “UNITED RUSSIA” Party’s Project “Saint Petersburg – the Sea Capital of Russia”. “The Republic of Crimea in the Russian and international transportation system” conference will bring together the representatives of authorities, transport companies and financial organizations.

Return of the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol to the Russian Federation has set complicated challenges for the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation. According to the head of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation Maxim Sokolov, the main task for today is the most effective integration of the Crimean Federal District into a single transport system of Russia.

The participants of the Forum will discuss the system of road, rail and water transportations in Crimea and its merger with the transport hub of the Russian Federation. The topical theme of the increasing pressure on ferry transportation to the Crimea has drawn attention to the necessity of the Kerch bridge building. The construction of the bridge is already planned to start in autumn. According to the experts and analysts opinion, the combined road-rail bridge from the Crimean peninsula to Taman is able to improve the state of cargo traffic between the Crimea and the Russian Federation.
