V International Forum "Sea Tourism" has come to the end

On the 4th – 5th of July 2013 the V International Forum «Sea Tourism» has been held in Saint-Petersburg within the framework of the «UNITED RUSSIA» Party Project «Saint-Petersburg – the Sea Capital of Russia».

300 delegates from 40 Russian regions and 10 foreign states gathered on to discuss and work out solutions for the issues of water tourism development. The event was supported and participated by Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, profile ministries and departments.

During the Plenary Session, signified Forum’s opening, A. RADKOV, director of the Federal Agency for Tourism, delivered a speech upon investment in water tourism, including state-private partnership basis. Within the session special attention was paid to the issues of passenger and cruise steam navigation safety. А. SHAPKIN, chairman of the Committee on tourism development shared the plans and perspectives of developing  St. Petersburg as a sea capital of Russia’s water tourism. V. LUBOMIROV, commodore of the «St. Petersburg yacht club» touched issues of Russia’s yachting development. At the end of the event V. TULPANOV, director of the «UNITED RUSSIA» party project «St. Petersburg – the Sea Capital of Russia» reviewed the results of the Project in water tourism development during 5 years.

Three working session dedicated to marine cruises, river cruises and yacht tourism, took place within the forum. Working session «Marine cruises» was devoted to world cruise market analysis, its development tendencies. Representatives from St. Peter Line, Intercruises, «ATLANTIS LINE», MC «Morskoy fasad», Commercial Sea Port of Sochi, JSC«MTS» JSC and others delivered reports upon the corresponding issues. During the working session «River cruises» problems and prospects of cruise and excursion navigation in Russia were discussed as well as building and modernizing passenger fleet. Reported were presented by: «National Shipping Chamber», cruise company «Infoflot», «Volga Shipping» JSC, OAO Zelenodolsk Plant n.a. A. M. Gorky. Within the working session «Yacht tourism» the attention was focused on legislative issues of yachting and yacht infrastructure development. Among the participants of the session there were: State small boat inspectorate of the Russian Federation (GIMS of Russia), Federal Customs Service, Association of small boat owners, «Marinetek SPb» JSC, Russian Yachting Federation, Rostov River Port, Petersburg yacht-clubs and many others.

Also within the forum round table «Fleet and Infrastructure Development for Cruise Tourism and Passenger Water Transfer» and discussion dedicated to issues of service and promotion in cruise industry took place.

At the end of business programme a work-shop for Russia’s leading cruise market players and travel agencies was held.

The Forum has been resulted in resolution with proposals and recommendations which will be directed to the profile committees of the Upper and Lower Chambers of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, ministries and agencies, Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, Open Government in order to improve the legislative base and the system of state regulation of the sphere of water tourism.
